How To Go With The FLOW…

July 10, 2017

Sometimes we need to stop and be mindful of what is happening around you. Well, that is what the world tries to tell us to do. Sometimes it is hard to take that time out in busy schedules but that didn’t stop us forcing one of our busy SheBrisbane girls along to a session at FLOW AU wellness centre in the City a couple of weeks ago.

It is safe to say she came back refreshed and possibly addicted to the floating experience she had.

Going into the session knowing only that she was going to be floating in some kind of pod, she didn’t really prepare a lot of questions.

But by the time she walked in the front door, it is safe to say she asked 101 questions of the Director of the facility Nas about her claustrophobia, what the hygiene was like and how much salt was in the water?

One lesson she walked away with was the incredible benefits of Epsom Salts which they sell in store!

For the uninitiated, Epsom salts are minerals that occur naturally in water with the scientific name “magnesium sulphate”. The name ‘Epsom’ comes from the town of Epsom in England where the salts were first distilled from springs.

The epsom salts water in the floatation tanks have many benefits including:

  • Relaxes the nervous system
  • Relaxes the muscles
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Eases stress
  • Relieves aching muscles and joint pain
  • Helps relieve arthritis and chronic back pain
  • Helps prevent and ease migraine or headaches

With the calmness of Nas and 101 questions answered, our SheBrisbane team member went through the steps to enter into the amazing hour of relaxing which hit her with such an abundance of need.

The sensory deprivation tanks ensured her aches and pains of the world fell away.

As she entered the pod of water the temperature adjusted to allow her body to feel like she was floating in the air, while being able to drift in and out of deep sleep and relaxation.

FLOW AU allows you to work in whatever way works with you, with lights on or off, pod open or closed and there is no right or wrong way to experience the tanks.

In what felt like 10 minutes, the hour was up and the sense of relaxation had an overwhelming power which automatically gave her a surge of energy and charge to fuel the rest of her day. Showering off the salts in the shower provided and getting ready to head out to face the real world she fell across the grooming bar with hair dryers, hair straighteners, green teas and mirrors to ensure you are looking the goods on your way out their door. Clever move boys!

The biggest thing SheBrisbane learnt when chatting with Nas was that they believe so highly in what they offer. Both Nas & his business partner are top-shelf athletes in their own right. Both crossing over their training from intense cardio to yoga to relaxation back to running and weights.

There isn’t one element of wellness they don’t practice themselves and they believe it is important to mix this up with your weekly routine. Although FLOW AU isn’t a physical exercise it definitely relates to your mental wellness and there are many things you may get out of this experience regardless of your exercise routine or lack thereof.

Whether you want to use FlOW AU floatation as a muscle relaxant therapy, a mental health/stress relief therapy or a time-out experience it would be worth having a chat with the guys at FLOW AU.

Being welcomed into their circle of wellness is something that SheBrisbane can’t wait to try again.

Do yourself a favour and take some time for yourself – head along and see Nas at FLOW AU and listen to your body for an hour while you float in an infinite pod of your own thoughts and de-stress to the max!

Follow them on Facebook or Instagram and pop in for a chat and a float!
