Angsana – a unique preschool educational facility opens in February catering to a multi-culturally diverse community in the Greater Western Sydney to inspire global minds and nurture bright futures

The family-owned early learning centre is gearing up to open its doors in North Rocks on February 23. The highly anticipated ribbon-cutting event will be attended by local Parramatta MP Dr. Andrew Charlton alongside esteemed former MasterChef contestant Sarah Tiong.

Following a 7-year build and $20M investment and in a Greater Western Sydney first, the dedicated multi-lingual childcare centre is designed to cater for the ever-changing multi-lingual community in the area.

Privately owned childcare centre, Angsana located at 49 North Rocks Road, North Rocks, is a multi-lingual Early Learning Centre that is focus on exposing children to the three major languages of the world: English, Mandarin and Spanish. Interactive lessons in these languages are delivered by native speakers through play, gardening and cooking, speech and drama, physical education, music and numeracy to their 99 students.

This approach to education dominates Angsana’s philosophy of taking advantage of the child’s neuron-plasticity in absorbing languages and concepts at an early age, especially in an environment such as Western Sydney where there is a diversity of various communities from around the world. Other benefits to a multi-lingual education especially at an early age prepares a child to be able to communicate confidently in different environments and cultures particularly in our increasingly globalised world.

“Teaching children multiple languages from an early age increases cognitive abilities, improves problem- solving skills, and fosters cultural understanding,” says Centre Director, Yolanda Rubatto Ivanov. It also positively influences brain development, making them more adaptable and proficient in communication. Additionally, multilingualism has been linked to better academic performance and increased career opportunities later in life.”

“We are focussed on multilingualism because the child of today needs to know more than one language to survive in our increasingly globalised society. Just looking around us here in Greater Sydney, there are at least 5 different communities speaking one language other than English. By doing so, we hope to encourage our children to easily connect with others, not only here but also around the world. We know we are not for everyone, however, parents who want to grow globally aware and open-minded children will see the advantages that our centre can offer to their children,” co-founder Gan Shen-Lene says.

Member for Paramatta, Dr Andrew Charlton MP attended the opening of the centre and recognises the need for language to take front and centre to cater to the ever-evolving diversity in his local LGA.

“I’m incredibly excited to see the first multi-lingual childcare centres open in our local community. We live in the most multicultural community in Australia, with the highest number and highest proportion of people born overseas. I’m passionate about helping local kids get the best start to life possible, and I can’t wait for local families to take advantage of Angsana’s new facilities,” says Dr, Andrew Charlton MP.

According to the Australian Bureau Of Statistics, between 2023-2028 there’s a predicated increase of 8.1% in population expected in the North Rocks region, with 1.6% of children aged 0-4 and 2.5% of children aged 5 to account for the increase. Last year alone a total of 1,570 members of the local population were children aged 0-4 and 273 children were aged 5. making the demand for premium education and care is high.

The specially designed and purpose-built centre, which spans 2,200 sqm opens in February following a 7-year build which cost a total of $20 million. Fees start from $150 per day with Government rebates applicable to approved families. Angsana is open Monday to Friday from 7:00am- 6:00 pm and has 99 positions for children from six weeks to six years across the nursery (3 rooms), toddler (2 rooms) and preschool rooms (2 rooms).

The centre boasts large indoor and outdoor play spaces and have been designed to facilitate learning through play. This purpose-built environment supports children to build relationships with peers and educators, understand and appreciate the natural world, and develop many skills including creative, music and early literacy and numeracy skills. We offer a safe and nurturing environment with the support of dedicated and qualified early learning educators.

Enrolments are fully-inclusive, including all meals prepared by a qualified cook and nutritionist onsite, a personalised approach to care for infants and toddlers and provide both incursion and excursion programs.
