She Society recently attended a travel talk presented by Tammie and Sandy from Vibrant Women Travel. Hosted by the Gap She Shed this well attended talk gave us a chance to connect, learn and dream about our next travel adventures. During the informative chat we were given tips and opportunities for women who love to travel, including technology hacks like eSims and currency cards.
This year alone Vibrant Women Travel are hosting trips to India, Nepal, South Africa, Turkey, the Philippines and hosting a get together in nearby Yamba. I spoke to Tammie Day to find out more about Vibrant Women Travel including her best travel tips, favourite destinations and the perks of women’s only small group travel. Here’s what she had to say.
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
In March, Vibrant Women Travel celebrates 14 remarkable years of operation. What began as a series of mindfulness retreats in Bali has now expanded into a global travel enterprise offering sightseeing tours across 22 countries. The transition from retreats to diverse travel experiences was driven by the enthusiastic requests from our loyal repeat customers who sought new adventures in different destinations.
2. You’ve run Vibrant Women Travel for over 14 years. How has travel changed during this time?
The evolution of travel has been immense, largely fuelled by advancements in technology. With the advent of the internet and mobile applications, travel has never been more convenient. Today, you can download an app for your flights, insurance, and even your travel plans with us. Our app consolidates your itinerary, invoices, and highlights, allowing you to manage your travel tasks effortlessly. The ability to compare flight prices and book tickets independently has made travel planning more accessible and straightforward.
However, the rise of over-tourism presents a significant challenge. The world is more accessible than ever, but this also means that we must be mindful of our impact on local communities and natural resources. At Vibrant Women Travel, we strive to create inspiring holidays that foster meaningful interactions with local communities and contribute positively rather than harmfully.
3. What are your favourite places to visit?
Choosing a favourite travel destination is no easy task. I initially hesitated to visit India, fearing the overwhelming number of people, poverty and chaos. However, once I travelled there, I fell in love with the country’s rich culture and beauty. We now offer three different tours to India, and I have visited the Taj Mahal multiple times, never tiring of its magnificence. I highly recommend Rajasthan, as well as the northern regions of Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj, where the Tibetan government-in-exile and the Dalai Lama reside.
Morocco is another must-visit destination. The stunning architecture, vibrant souks, and the journey through the Atlas Mountains to the desert are magical experiences. Sipping mint tea in a palm oasis and exploring the medinas are unforgettable adventures, and Morocco remains surprisingly affordable given its proximity to Europe.
Bali, however, holds a special place in my heart. It’s my go-to destination for recharging and introspection. Unlike Morocco or parts of India, Bali offers a perfect setting for self-care with its healthy food, yoga classes, and massages.
4. Do you have a bucket list destination?
For those with bucket list dreams, witnessing the Northern Lights from a glass roofed dome tent would be an extraordinary once-in-a-lifetime experience, despite my preference for tropical climates.
5. What have been your most popular tours?
Our most popular tours often align with my favourites, such as India and Morocco. Exotic locations where women may not feel safe travelling alone are particularly appealing. We also offer skill development retreats, like art, mindfulness or yoga retreats, and specific purpose trips like learning to scuba dive in the Philippines. Our tours cater to a variety of interests, from art and culture to relaxation and wildlife, such as orangutan encounters in Borneo and gorilla tracking in Kenya. So, we can’t say as its personal preference, and they are all popular actually.
6. What are the benefits of women only small group fully escorted tours?
Women-only small group tours provide a unique environment of support, safety, and friendship. Our tours are escorted, with a host accompanying groups of eight or more women, adding an extra layer of support. We ensure our itineraries are tailored to women’s interests, and our group sizes usually range from 8 to 12, with a maximum of 14 participants. Sometimes, groups may be as small as five or six.
Even though we love our small group, fully escorted women tour we do also offer Bespoke private tours you can do with friends and family or even on your own. You can view these destinations on our website.
7. You have many repeat travellers. What do they tell you about your trips?
The positive feedback from our guests has been overwhelming. With over 70 fabulous testimonials, our guests often express that they made new friends, found great value for money, and had experiences better than expected. We have never received a rating lower than eight out of ten.
8. What’s coming up in 2026 for Vibrant Women Travel?
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to introduce new tours to Mexico, Guatemala, Uganda, Kenya, Singapore, Borneo, Nepal, and Bhutan. We will start the year in Thailand with an intuitive art retreat, followed by a Thailand to Laos trip along the Mekong River and then a social enterprise trip to Cambodia. Our diverse schedule offers something for everyone, and you can visit our website to explore all our upcoming tours.
9. What do you hope your guests take away from these trips?
We hope our guests leave with lasting memories, inspiration, and a desire for more travel. Lots of our guests say that they have had life changing experiences, this is subjective to each guest as to what they mean by this. We like to use the slogan “Travel cheaper than therapy” however I am also a therapist so was surprised to find that this quote seems true sometimes! Especially for women who may experience anxiety related to travel or travel planning and those who have lost their travel buddies. We are there for you, you do not have to travel alone if you don’t want to. Many of our guests catch the travel bug and return for more adventures.
10. Is there a typical Vibrant Women Travel guest?
The majority of our guests are between 40 and 70 years old, with 50% travelling alone. Despite arriving solo, they quickly form new friendships. We offer twin share options to buddy up guests, but single room preferences are also accommodated. While our marketing primarily targets Australians, we also attract women from Canada, America, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and New Zealand. Our tours are land-based and priced in Australian dollars, offering great value to international guests.
Our guests are diverse, with no specific typical traveller. We cater to groups celebrating special occasions like birthdays, as well as mothers and daughters, sisters, and friends travelling together. About 50% of our guests are partnered or married but may have partners who don’t wish to travel to certain locations. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and accommodating all women.
