Spring Fashion Trends

October 5, 2018

In my part of the world the weather is warming up and Spring has certainly sprung , which leaves us all rushing to our wardrobes thinking what am I going to wear? Luckily, I headed out to the L’adore & co Spring Fashion Parade to find out what trends we can expect to be wearing this season. Pack your sunnies it’s going to be colourful!

Colour

We’ll be wearing lots of colour in the coming months- yellow and mustard are big, as is blush and rose. You can expect powdery blues, sage and mint green and at the other end of the spectrum bright crayola colours- think bright red and hot pink.

Patterns

Feminine florals are everywhere and the darker backgrounds are still going strong for Spring.

Tropical prints are big with parrots, palm trees and pineapples leading the pattern charge. Animal prints in soft fabrics are never out of style and expect new lighter leopard in jumpsuits and easy to wear dresses.

Skirts and Shirts

Statement skirts are a must have this season in midi or maxi lengths. You can dress them up with sparkles or dress down with a statement tee and sneakers. I’m loving the gingham and beautiful floral skirts, but look around to find the style, colour and length that suits you. The asymmetrical hemline is still going strong and skirts with ruffles add a feminine touch.

An easy care denim skirt is another great addition to your Spring wardrobe and will be a staple of your wardrobe as the weather warms up.

In shirts the off the shoulder trend from last season is showing no signs of stopping. The flutter top with floaty, feminine, fluttery sleeves will be your new best friend, as will a ruffle on your sleeve.

Jumpsuits

There is a style to suit everyone for Spring , just remember to try them on for fit. There are short and playful jumpsuits or elegant jumpsuits with flattering wide, culotte style legs and front ties. Many are printed with sleeves.

If this is not your usual style give them a go. Jumpsuits can be a flattering alternative to a dress and can take you from day to night with a change of accessories.

I wore jumpsuits in the ‘80’s and thought I’d never wear them again, but you can never say never with fashion. I’ve dipped my toe in, buying one in a flattering black with wide legs, which I’ll pair with colourful accessories for day and night this season. I expect it will be my wardrobe workhorse.

Trench trend

Belted trench style dresses and the ever flattering shirt dress are great and easy to wear for Spring. Copy the style of Meghan Markle with a belted button dress or the always flattering navy shirt dress. I’m loving the khaki version I’ve seen in stores for a military take.

Accessories

Rattan bags are still big this season, as are cross body bags, great for hands free holidays and shopping.

Your accessories should be big and bold- think colourful earrings, beaded and sequined clutches, multiple bangles and bold statement necklaces. Sparkles, sparkles and more sparkles are appropriate for both day and night this season, so let out your inner diva out and shine on.

Thanks to Kim and Helen from L’adore & co for sharing some of the trends you’ll be seeing this season, along with cool athleisure , white and gold shoes, fedora hats and statement sunnies. So what trends will you be embracing this season? Enjoy the sunshine and find your own personal style this Spring.
