Which is why it’s so important that we get regular, good quality sleep. Research the has found that our skin, just like our bodies, has a circadian rhythm which can be affected by the amount and quality of sleep we get each night.
How to make the most of your sleep
Introduce good sleep hygiene into your nightly routine. Go to bed at the same time every night, in a temperature controlled room, with as little light or noise to disturb you as possible. Just one interrupted sleep cycle, or lack of hours, can show on your skin. Research shows that one night one bad night’s sleep can decrease the skin’s elasticity and hydration, accentuating large pores and reducing blood flow to the face. Over time, this can make our skin look older than we are.
The night-time is an ideal time to support your skin’s health. Research shows that skin cell regeneration is at its peak during the hours of 11pm to 4am. You can support the cells’ regeneration during this time by applying ingredients rich in natural ingredients and which have been shown to support good skin health.
Vitamin E – known for its anti-ageing properties, vitamin E can help smooth irritated, dry skin, as well as improve its overall appearance. Vitamin E is found in avocado, so try to include it into your daily diet to support your skin health.
