On Sunday 17th February you can celebrate Valentine’s Day in style and ‘Dare to Bare’ for Cupid’s Undie Run.
What is Cupid’s Undie Run?
It’s your chance to strip down to your undies, raise funds for the Children’s Tumour Foundation (CTF), shine a light on the genetic disorder, Neurofibromatosis (NF) and have fun!
It’s a 1.5km walk, run or dance to the finish line and then celebrating with an exclusive after party, with food, drinks and entertainment. In 2019 Cupid’s has expanded to 15 locations across Australia.
Why do we run in our undies?
For every body to ‘celebrate being different’!
NF affects 1 in every 2,500 births, or an estimated 10,000 Australian’s and causes tumours to grow on any of the 100 billion nerves in the body. It can affect major organs and lead to blindness, bone abnormalities, deafness, disfigurement, learning difficulties and death ….
Sufferers are subject to bullying and feeling isolated because they’re different.
So, we want to stand by those with NF and celebrate that every person is perfect just the way they are!
Cupid’s Undie Run Campaign Manager, Rachel Skelton, whose daughter, Bella, is affected by NF, is looking forward to the event raising increased awareness and much needed funds for CTF.
“When Bella was diagnosed with NF, I was astounded by the lack of awareness of NF even though it is one of the most common genetic disorders. Bella is four now and has tumours compressing her spine. What is really terrible is that it is like living with a time bomb, because you have no idea how or where other tumours will grow, there are few treatments and no cure. What we can do, is raise funds for life changing research and provide support for families battling with NF”.
Our Goal
To raise over $500,000 for CTF so it can continue to provide critically important support for those impacted by NF and fund vital research to develop treatments and one day, find a cure. A primary aim of the CTF is to have an NF Clinic in every state so that everyone has access to specialist care.
