5 Ways To Bring Autumn Into Your Living Room

March 28, 2018

As the days get cooler and the nights get longer, there’s nothing better than curling up on the sofa with a glass of wine and your favourite Netflix series.

And if like most people your living room still has that summer feeling, CG Design Studio has a few simple tips on how to bring the ‘Hygge’ into your home.

  1. Cushions: An easy, affordable way to create a new look is to switch accessories, with cushions one of the simplest ways to do this. During the cooler months swap your summer colours for warmer, neutral tones and remember this season’s is about introducing textures.
  2. Flowers: During the colder months, the variety of cut flowers available dwindles, however foliage is a great replacement. For example, a vase of magnolia or olive leaves can look stunning and will often last a few weeks with the right care.
  3. Candles: You don’t need a fireplace to add atmosphere and warmth into your living room. Candles are a great way to create coziness and don’t need to break the bank. Whether you use real or battery candles, simply group together different sized candles and lanterns on your coffee table or side board, creating soothing and romantic mood.4. Throws: What is winter without a throw? We casually throw them over lounges all year round, but as winter hits they take on a more versatile use. A throw is also a great way disguise an old sofa that needs an update, especially if you’re waiting until the kids are a little older!5. Bar carts: It may seem old fashioned, but these are having a resurgence and are extremely popular. What could be more welcoming then coming home in winter and enjoying a nice glass of red or a warming scotch from your bar cart?  If you don’t have the space, you can replicate this with a nice tray and glassware, then pair it with your favourite aperitif. A bar cart or tray can really add a little decadence to your living room.
