One of the first gala balls to be held at the new Star Casino, this black tie gala fundraising event will provide 1000 guests with an opulent evening filled with exquisite dining, captivating performances, and opportunities to contribute to a cause that directly supports the health and well-being of children and families in need.

“We are thrilled to bring together the community for a night that not only celebrates generosity but also makes a significant impact on the lives of so many families,” said Emma Thompson, CEO of RMHC SEQ.

“With the support of our incredible hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo, we aim to raise substantial funds and awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities South East Queensland, ensuring we continue to provide essential services to children and families who need them most.”

The event will feature a red carpet arrival, live entertainment, a silent auction with exclusive items, speeches from key RMHC SEQ ambassadors and supporters, with a surprise guest still to be announced. The stunning newly opened Brisbane Star Casino, with its state-of-the-art facilities and breathtaking views, will provide the perfect backdrop for this unforgettable evening ‘A Starry Night’.

As Brisbane’s fundraising event of the year, the RMHC SEQ A Starry Night is more than just a night of entertainment; it’s an opportunity to put Brisbane on the map as a city that cares deeply about its community, in particular the families of sick or injured children. The funds raised will directly benefit RMHC SEQ programs, including accommodation, support services, and initiatives designed to keep families close during challenging times such as Luna and her mother La Toya.

Luna was just 48 hours old when she was transferred from her hometown in Maryborough to Brisbane with Mum, La Toya.

During her pregnancy, La Toya was told she was having a perfectly healthy baby, but once Luna was born she was floppy and needed life support.

They spent 101 consecutive days at our South Brisbane House whilst Luna fought for her life at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. Throughout their stay, the family were provided with accommodation and support from the friendly staff and volunteers, as well as the opportunity to have the whole family stay to be by Luna’s side.

“I honestly have no idea what we would have done without RMHC SEQ. They gave us a home-away-from-home, treated us like family and made our terrifying journey that little bit less scary. We got to meet so many beautiful families who were all going through their own journey. Hearing their stories made us feel less alone and I am left with life-long friends.”

“Our world is still up and down and there are so many uncertainties with Luna’s condition. We still visit the House regularly for specialist appointments but most importantly, she is still here and thriving in her own way. That will be something we will be forever grateful for.”

Thank you RMHC SEQ for opening your doors and hearts to us”, Luna’s Mum, La Toya.
