American Express Openair Cinemas Are Back In Brisbane!

American Express Openair Cinemas are on a mission to make winter better, coming back to Brisbane this July in a brand new home: the iconic Botanic Gardens. An exciting festival program of food and films has been revealed today including the Opening Night screening of musical fantasy Rocketman (19/07).

The early return of the popular outdoor cinema this winter will again play host to an array of festival-vibe entertainment, with American Express Card Members receiving a range of exclusive benefits.

FILMS

This year’s program is an exciting mix of box office hits and highly anticipated new releases including Rocketman (19/07, 27/07 & 2/08), Men in Black: International (21/07), X-men: Dark Phoenix (28/07), Yesterday (08/08 & 14/08) and Spiderman: Far from Home (11/08 & 15/08).

Little and big kids alike will rejoice at screenings of family films such as Aladdin (20/07, 26/07 & 04/08), The Secret Life of Pets 2 (10/08 & 16/08) and Toy Story 4 (03/08 & 09/08).

American Express Openair Cinemas have always been proud supporters of Australian cinema and will be screening three homegrown films in Brisbane season: the inspiring documentary 2040 (23/07) and two hilarious rom-coms: Top End Wedding (01/08) and Standing Up For Sunny (07/08).

For fans of cult classics, this year’s program features an 80thAnniversary screening of The Wizard of Oz on 13th August, a special Christmas in July screening of Love Actually on 24thJuly and a throwback screening of the most quotable film of all times: Clueless on 6th August (As if!).

Brand-new food partner for 2019 is, Pizza Queensland Bros, who will be cooking up a storm throughout the program. There will be a mouth-watering daily menu of irresistible woodfired pizzas (including Nutella pizza!), antipasto patters and salads, which aresure to delight cinemagoers.

Fear not, the refreshments are taken care of, thanks to national partners Giesen Wines, 4Pinescraft beer, PIMMSand Enjoy Water, Australian spring waterin reusable aluminium cans. 

It’s official, Wine Wednesdays are now a thing! Every Wednesday, guests will be able to samplethe fantastic range of Giesen Wines (up to 8 different kinds) to pair perfectly with a selection of rom-coms. FUN 

With more than 27 events happening at Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens, the festival atmosphere will be in full swing every weekend with an array of alternative entertainment; live music and DJ performances before the latest and greatest feature films light up the big screen.

Punters have no need to feel lonesome or long for company on their night out,as ‘Doggy Dates’ provides visitors the chance to adopt a pooch during the movie every Friday with all proceeds going to RSPCA Queensland. Film fanatics and doggy owners are invited to bring their furry friends anytime, as all screenings are pet friendly.
