Winter has come people!
Without a doubt, Game of Thrones is one of the largest series to grace our screens. With teasers and trailers giving us a glimpse of the final season, the team here at the SheSociety office can’t wait to see how it pans out.
In preparation for the final season, I have been rewatching the whole series to date. Yes I’m a nerd and no, I don’t care. Every second of it has been worth it. I did, however, have an emotional breakdown last night as I rewatched Hodor’s death, which left me blabbering so much even my cat was too scared to sit with me. But hey, #worthit.
The final season is set to be released on April 14th. With under a month to go, SheSociety has compiled our top picks/wishes for who will end up on the Iron Throne.
Daenerys Targaryen
The option I suppose everyone is hoping for. The badass Mother of Dragons has had her mind set on the Iron Throne since season one, and has conquered so much more than any other character. Her moral compass guides her to do the best for everyone, and she battles for equality which means she is loved by her people. She is a fearsome and strong woman who has built her way up without having to buy loyalty of others.
Jon Snow
Another favourite to win the throne, we wouldn’t mind seeing Jon’s beautiful brooding face rule the seven kingdoms. His goal to unite the kingdoms to fight the White Walkers, has proven that he would be an effective leader which would unite and keep the kingdoms at peace. A part of me can’t help but think that even if he won the throne, he would appoint someone else to rule in his stead, as he belongs in the North.
Tyrion Lannister
The political mastermind, there is no doubt that Tyrion would rule well over the seven kingdoms. Though his decisions do not please everyone, he logically and calmly thinks of all options before acting. His time spent as a advisor to Daenerys has also made him a better person, as he could see what a good and true ruler could be like.
Sansa Stark
I’ll be the first to admit that I loathed Sansa in the first season, but now I absolutely love her. Through her traumatic times, she has become a strong and just woman who is not to be underestimated. Although I would love to see her on the throne, I don’t think she will leave her home at Winterfell, after the effort she went to get back there. But should she sit on the throne, I can’t wait to see the awesome Brienne as head of her kingsguard. #femalesforthewin.
Lyanna Mormont
The legend herself, and feisty young lady who stole viewers hearts from her first scene. I would love to see the stubborn, loyal Lyanna rule over the seven kingdoms with her wisdom that is truly beyond her years.
Nobody- Literally (not that weird ‘Nobody’ phase Arya went through)
Knowing Game of Thrones, I wouldn’t be surprised if no one ends up sitting on the Iron Throne. There is the possibility that the White Walkers win, and the seven kingdoms are wiped out. However, there is also the possibility that the kingdoms unite and disband the Iron Throne, to have a diplomatic ruling across the Kingdoms. This would see the rulers of the seven, work together to create the best future for everyone.
While we can speculate or hope for our favourites to sit on the throne, we will simply have to wait until the final season to find out. Good luck folks!
