Winter is here with all the joy of slippers and cocoa, jumpers and scarves. There is snow in Brisbane. Snow in Brisbane? No, it never snows in Brisbane, you say. It does now thanks to the team at the Prince Consort Hotel, who are welcoming 50 tonnes of real snow every hour. Fluffy snow will be falling at the Prince for their annual Snow Week which is returning bigger and better in 2022.
Come along and explore all the unique spaces on offer as the packed venue is transformed this June. With a full week of entertainment lined up, this is a party to suit everyone. The Prince Consort promises art installations, specialised menus, roaming performers and prizes. She Society were lucky enough to be invited to the Launch Party to enjoy the snowy festivities.
Be transported to the French Alps with snow, hot toddies, apres ski Aperol Spritz and ugly sweaters. There is even an Ugly Sweater Party. Why not try the Apres Ski Party, White Party, Polarfest and Canada Day? You might enjoy the special Snow Queen Bingo or visit Greaser Bar for some Cabin Fever Comedy.
The DJ was cranking up the playlist as we were showered with our first fall of snow. The Ice Queens performed on roller skates, sharing dance moves and spreading their wings. Guests nibbled on hot four cheese arancini, spiced chicken bites, maple bacon sliders and custard filled warm doughnut holes to warm their hearts on a chilly night. The food is always delicious at the Prince and you can enjoy all the flavours of Winter as you catch up with friends and enjoy your favourite Indie band.
The Prince Consort is famous for its beers on tap and my guest loved his Balter Hazy. It’s slightly cloudy with a downpour of juicy hops and is a peachy colour with a combination of candied orange, mango and passion fruit. There are over 89 beers on tap, so you are sure to find one that suits you. Aperol Spritz were the drink of the night but I was not game to try the bright blue concoctions being shared by the Prince’s mixologists. Many others were enjoying them. I’ll stick with one of my favourites, Veuve Cliquot, who are one of the sponsors of Snow Week.
Whiteout is the official closing party of the Prince Consort Snow Week festivities on July 3. Headlining is no other than UK underground don Joshwa. He will be joined by a stack of talented locals. Joshwa is an exciting London -based DJ/producer who is one of the most talented names to come out of the Underground Dance scene. His recent track ‘ My Humps’ with Lee Foss has exploded on the club scene, filling dance floors around the world.
Missing the snow? Gather the crew and explore everything The Prince Consort Snow Week has to offer. In 2022, Snow Week runs from Tuesday, June 28 through to Sunday, July 3. Baby, it’s cold inside.
