What’s New This Year At The Ekka!

#SheSociety rounds up the highlights of what’s new this year at the Ekka!

Competition Facilities

• The CRT Pavillion is the new home for large and small animal breeds during the show, it’s the only building of its kind globally and has been designed specially to house animals during the show.
• The new Woodchop arena has expanded- and its new undercover space will make sure one of the most entertaining arenas at the show!

Technology

• Virtual Barambin– New technology comes to life at the Ekka with virtual reality making a standout as Ekka visitors will be able to walk in the footsteps of Indigenous Australian’s of the 1770’s
• Ace Aviation– Ekka visitors will fly micro drones around an obstacle course in a netted area (you don’t need to worry if they loose control!)
• Ekka App– The Ekka has released a new app to make it even easier to plan your perfect day at the show and pick your favourite showbags!

Food

• Vegan Ekka– with the vegan lifestyle becoming more popular, Ekka has more vegan foods on offer than ever before.
• Puffles– these Instaworthy creations in Gourmet Placa are cheesy Hong Kong egg waffles stuffed with mouthwatering toppings like Korean fried chicken and bulgogi beef with Philly Cheese!
• A 40cm long King sized churro will be available from Golden Churros on Gregory Tce!

The Old Museum

• The Cosmic Star Dome– which uses projection technology to provide a realistic recreation of the night sky from a rural landscape
• Displays from the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in London
• Sugarcane Maze– where children will get lost in the excitement!

Free Activities

• Checkout the farmyard furry friends at the RACQ Animal Nursery!
• See the amazing cakes which are too good to eat at the Cake Decorating Competition.
• The Futuristic Fireworks Spectacular is on every night- starting at 7:45 (with an earlier show at 6:05 for the little ones)
• The Woodchop and Sawing Competition will be in full swing every day!
• See the most stylish spring racewear at Fashions on the Field.
• Get sassy with Queens Ball ‘Drag Performer of the Year’ Vollie LaVont when you play drag queen bingo!
