I was very lucky to be included in the fashionable crowd for the White Sands Resort 22 fashion show at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week. This was my first taste of swimwear at the 2022 shows and I was blown away by the amazing colour palette on display. Summer is looking bright.
White Sands was born in Bondi Beach and now has a second home in Surfers Paradise. The label was created by Leah Madden in 2008 and is a favourite of the fashion set who crave fashionable cuts in luxe fabrics. Many were Instagrammable itsy bitsy styles, but there were one pieces and higher waists for those of us who are more modest. The cover ups were lovely.
Colours were shades of green, blue, yellow and coral. Surprisingly there was a range of elegant black velvet style pieces. White Sands is well known for their swimwear that will take you to exotic places and see you lazing under swaying palm trees. It’s for those who favour innovative shapes in luxurious fabrics and the range is both covetable and collectable.
Each of Leah’s curated collections are a limited release and are created consciously using cutting edge design philosophy. There were pretty tops with puffed sleeves, ruched and tie sides on one pieces and interesting criss cross tops and waists. I really liked the aqua bikini with high waisted pants and some of the ruffled and patterned florals. Cutaways, ties and plenty of playful cover ups completed the looks. The models sported beachy waves and undone hair looks and wore flat slides in tan or beige and black leg lengthening high slides. White Sands are a modern and high end swimwear brand perfect for a sweltering weekend.
