It was so much fun being onset The Today Show “behind the scenes” alongside the fabulous weather guru Stevie Jacobs. One of the segments recorded was to promote “Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe Exhibition” which opened exclusively at the Gallery Of Modern Art (GOMA) on Friday 26 May. We also had the honour of attending the Media Launch which was officially opened by the Chair, Professor Ian O’Connor & Director Chris Saines, along with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, and Ms Kylie Watson-Wheeler, Managing Director, The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand.
Tracey Vieira, CEO from Screen Queensland joined forces with Premier Palaszczuk with a business trip to Marvel Studios Los Angeles last year to make this happen. Their bond is a friendship and a wonderful work collaboration that’s going to be very successful in this industry, and we look forward to future projects these two powerhouses have coming up! Ms Watson-Wheeler stated that “the power of Marvel lies in its broad appeal and how it connects with people of all ages. It’s wonderful that Queensland, QAGOMA and Marvel could bring this exhibition, the largest of its kind, to the people of Australia”. Palaszczuk confirmed the exhibition had sold more than 3,400 pre-sale tickets prior to its opening weekend, making it the gallery’s most successful launch to date. “GOMA celebrates 10 years this year and what an outstanding achievement to be able to attract this kind of exhibition to Queensland,” she said.
“Marvel: Creating the Cinematic Universe” encompasses the entire ground floor of GOMA with more than 500 objects including more than 60 original costumes (worn by actors including Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr and Tilda Swinton), comic books, props, spectacular set design, concept and keyframe art clips from Marvel Studios and bespoke hands-on interactives.
The exhibition is a must see and is now open until 3 September 2017 – make sure you don’t miss out!. Also make sure to check out their amazing merchandise area, we got our fabulous Marvel tees which we absolutely love! For more information click here!
We would also personally like to thank Ms Meryn Cooper, Media & Public Relations Manager, Brisbane Marketing and Ms Libby Davis, Media Officer, QAGOMA and all the QAGOMA staff for a wonderful experience.
