Soccer and a six-pack: are you ready for Team Lucas?

If you’re looking for a light read with some saucy interactions then Team Lucas is the book for you

‘…he had to perform as well as he did on the field but in the bedroom and on me. I would score him for tongue work, hand work and yellow card him when he wasn’t paying attention.’

When I read these words I laughed aloud and wished I’d implemented a similar system for various ‘dates’ in my past. Lord knows some men get it so wrong in the bedroom and a lot of them love sport, so it might work. But that’s a story for another day.

The quote comes from page three of Ally Adams’ latest offering, Team Lucas, and is the first in her romance series based on the fictitious Saints soccer team.

Take one pretty 21-year old physical therapy student and add a 26-year-old bad-boy soccer player with an attitude matched only by his six-pack, and you’ve got a recipe for trouble and sexual tension up to the yin yang. Team Lucas is a fun romp involving unexpected erections, desire, miscommunication, fast cars and some hot sex guaranteed to get your motor running.

Mia Carter is the long-suffering protagonist in a story set in Laguna Beach, California. She’s brought in as a minder for Lucas Ainswright, a sporting superstar who needs to be kept in line for the season.

Now I’m not a fan of men behaving badly and getting away with it. I don’t care how hot they are. Lucas certainly behaves badly and Mia has the huge task of managing his ego and erratic mood swings. While it’s clear Lucas is haunted by some nasty demons from his past, I’ll leave it up to you dear reader to decide if he ultimately redeems himself.

However, Lucas certainly has the moves in the bedroom and Adams includes some highly luscious sex scenes to demonstrate her character’s prowess. My only complaint is the scenes were bundled at the end of the book. I would’ve preferred them scattered more evenly and copiously throughout the novel.

If you’re looking for a light read with some saucy interactions then Team Lucas is the book for you. It’s perfect as a beach-read or enjoyed with a glass of wine on a Saturday night once the kids have gone to bed. Or, if you’re single, snuggle down on the couch with some chocolate, turn to the first page and get ready to enjoy Lucas’ hot bod and a serious dose of sexual chemistry.
