We should all be keen to explore our own backyard with the COVID restrictions not looking to change any time soon for international travel, there is no better time like now to plan your 2021 and even 2022 holidays in and around Australia! Everyone loves an episode of Getaway on Channel 9 and they are catering to our ‘stay at home’ holidaying rules this time around with some great adventures with their hosts – David Reyne, Catriona Roundtree & Charli Robinson taking us on some epic adventures which aren’t out of our reach! A large portion of Bruny Island is comprised of the South Bruny National Park and State Forest Reserves. It’s a perfect island for walking – stroll to Penguin Island from Adventure Bay and climb along the crest of the sea crags on Fluted Cape; take the loop track around the Labillardiere Peninsula and picnic along the way; take a beach walk on one of the island’s many stretches of untracked sand.
Brumby Riding – NSW Snowy Mountains
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Australia’s legendary high country on a horse riding adventure. Home of the wild brumby, the magnificent NSW Snowy Mountains offers horse riding tours for all levels of experience.
Rides vary from one hour to full day and multi-day treks, where you’re able to camp under the bright stars at night. All horseback tours are led by experienced local guides. You can also bring your own horse and take advantage of the stables across the region. Giddyup!
Granite Island – South Australia
Home to the magical little penguins and the majestic southern right whale, this island is characterised by huge granite boulders tinged with orange lichen. Take a short stroll or horse tram ride over the wooden causeway that connects the mainland at Victor Harbor to Granite Island Recreation Park.
Enjoy the coastal scenery and discover the island’s interesting history along the Kaiki Walk or go fishing from the jetty, or causeway. You may even spot a southern right whale between June and October.
