The augmented reality experience, The Gruffalo Spotters App & Trail, is coming to Ballarat this Easter.
Join Kryal Castle these Easter school holidays on an adventure to find the Gruffalo to celebrate 25 years of the beloved children’s tale! Following a Gruffalo Augmented Reality Trail, the first to be hosted in Victoria, little ones can follow clues around the castle to discover the Gruffalo and pick up his friends along the way. Running from Friday 29th March to Sunday 21st April, families can join in a range of Gruffalo fun including the chance to meet the infamous Gruffalo himself and see the classic tale brought to life in a live stage show!
Journey through the twists and turns of Kryal Castle in the search for the Gruffalo! Keeping an eye out for interactive character signs, visitors can use the free Gruffalo Spotter app on their phones to meet Mouse, Fox, Owl, Snake, and of course the notorious Gruffalo at the end of the trail. Visitors will need to keep their wits about them to follow the clues to get to the Guffalo’s hut to discover who is waiting inside!
After completing the trail, little ones can revisit the beloved original story at the epic Gruffa-Show and Gruffalo Storytime. Join Mouse as he takes a stroll through the deep dark woods and encounters all the classic characters in the charming stage show. At Gruffalo Storytime, visitors can hunker down to the Woodland Theatre and grab a comfy cushion to hear the story of The Gruffalo read aloud by his best friend, the Mouse! Hear some of Julia Donaldson’s classics, and who knows, there might even be a surprise guest!
Throughout the day, kids can also join in a range of fun Gruffalo-themed arts and crafts. The perfect addition for every Gruffalo book-lover, little ones can paint a wooden bookmark to treasure at home. With Gruffalo Cookie Decorating kids can create their favourite character on a tasty treat. Face-painting will also be on offer where kids can be transformed into creatures from the beloved Gruffalo story.
Creating magical memories for the whole family, Kryal Castle’s classic medieval entertainment will also be running over the school holidays. With jousting, skill at arms, and trial by combat performances, and legendary activities including potion-making, knight training, axe throwing, and archery, Kryal Castle is the place for epic adventures these holidays!
