There are a lot of people who go into business with one foot on the brakes and the other on the accelerator but not Cindy Lim, the 28 year old founder of Koko&Kush, a refillable capsule collection of four hemp-based skincare products. Cindy is an all in kind of person, who put her house on the line to start her business.
She sold her Melbourne dream home to pour six figures into getting her business off the ground. Cindy has always had an entrepreneurial heart, inspired by her mother, who escaped the Khmer Rouge to come to Australia for a new life.
Watching her mum pour everything she has into her business, Cindy has an all-in attitude. If she was going to start something from scratch, she was going to do it right. She could see a gap in the market for hemp based products, especially after spending over $1000 to fix her skin challenges.
Not wanting to go into debt to start her business, she convinced her husband to use all their six figure savings and the profit from the sale of their home to build Koko&Kush. Investing in developing the right formulation for her brain child, she has made the mistakes and learned from them to successfully launch the business in 2021.
“Selling our home to invest in the unknown was a big risk but it paid off. Koko&Kush grew 430% from the launch date, with our August launch smashing five figures in three months. I am seeing a 45% return of customers who love my take on sustainable skincare,” Cindy said.
