The gender imbalance is still a major issue within the Australian music industry, however these five Aussie female artists are killing it.
Alex Lahey (pictured above)
Having been around for a few years now, Alex Lahey has an abundance of great music. She is on the lineup for some of Australia’s biggest music festivals like Splendor in the Grass and Groovin’ The Moo, as well as touring internationally to share her music.
Songs to check out: Ivy League, Everyday’s the Weekend and Lotto in Reverse.
Amy Shark
If you were watching the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony you would have seen this hardworking lady. She recently made an appearance on Jimmy Fallon, and is finally starting to get the recognition she deserves.
Songs to check out: Adore, Weekends and I Said Hi.
Confidence Man
Funky. Groovy. Can’t Sit Still. These are three ways I would describe Confidence Man. Their leading lady Janet Planet is a weapon on stage, oozing confidence and making dorky dancing look cool. A Confidence Man live show should be on everybody’s checklist.
Songs to check out: Bubblegum, Boyfriend (Repeat), Try Your Luck.
G-Flip
Pretty new to the music scene is G-Flip. This young Aussie is making waves with her skills on the drums and vocals to match. After reading a quote “create the things you wish existed” she re built her drum kit so that it was animated and came to life.
Songs to check out: About You and Killing My Time.
The Preatures
Isabella Manfredi is the leading lady of Sydney band The Preatures. Their songs get into your head and you can’t help but sing along.
Songs to check out: Is This How You Feel? and Yanada.
