She Brisbane asked WARWICK interior designer Kaylene Harris what colour she couldn’t live with out. This is what she had to say…
“It’s no secret that I’m a lover of colour, so when Pantone announced last week its colour of the year for 2017, it was like an early Christmas present.
Being an ex-chef, the most frequent question I was asked then was “what’s your favourite dish to cook?”.
Now that I work in design it has become “what’s your favourite colour?” and my answer now is simpler than having to explain a dish.
My favorite colour is Green!!
You may see colour trends and forecasts for interiors are predicted through fashion. This year we’ve seen Pantone look at colours such as “Lush Meadow” for its Fall (Autumn) colour palette and “Kale”, a hot finalist for the Colour of the Year, before deciding “Greenery” as the most exciting colour to watch for 2017.
Green is a colour of love, rejuvenation and growth and I love seeing it used to style homes. You can do this simply by bringing the outdoors in!
A simple potted plant can add so much life to any room. Add a mix of cushions or simple palm print, that can be mixed around or changed between rooms and if you’re up for being adventurous try an upholstered bedhead or sofa.
Team with a deeper green, teal, or citrus colour for that extra wow factor.
Outdoor fabrics have become very popular in Queensland, so incorporate into your summer décor and you’re bound to be on the forefront of this colour trend!”

Thanks for the advice , Kaylene. I have just updated the cushions on my outdoor setting to green and citrus with some palm prints as well. It looks like a whole new setting just in time for Christmas. Cheers , Michelle
