During Australian Fashion Week I was lucky enough to hear Rebecca Vallance speak with the Lady Brains podcast about her life, business success and her latest Resort range. Rebecca started her label in London twelve years ago and is this year celebrating ten years of Rebecca Vallance here in Australia. Her debut show was at Paris Fashion Week so Rebecca is not shy about thinking big. She credits her success to hard work, a great team and a loyal customer base.

Rebecca has expanded her range to include evening , bridal, loungewear and in October is including swimwear. Amazingly when she launched her lounge range, Sportif, she sold eighty percent on the first day and sold out completely in three days. It was obviously something her customers had been waiting for. I can only imagine Swim will be the same.
Rebecca’s attention to detail ensures that if anything is not up to scratch she will follow her instinct and start again. She is known for wearable styles with a fashion edge. She also walks the walk and only dresses in her own label.
Personally, Rebecca is a mother to two young sons. She began her working life as a model before completing a business degree which gave her a career in Fashion PR. Still Rebecca wanted more and as the only career she’d ever really wanted was Fashion Designer she decided to follow her heart.
Rebecca credits her 91 year old Grandmother as her source of inspiration. Her Grandmother is an amazing seamstress and Rebecca learned her skills at her Grandmother’s knee. Her Grandmother still reads all the weekly newsletters and as well as being Rebecca’s greatest fan she will also tell things to her straight.
Rebecca Vallance has proven her credentials with such longevity in a tough industry. She loves, lives and breathes fashion but is always striving for balance in her life. After this year’s show she plans to turn off her phone and spend some quality time with her boys. Her top tips for living a good life are balance, kindness and a phenomenal work ethic and that is why #SheInspires.
