Depressing BUT Funny – Metro Arts Brings ‘Every Brilliant Thing’ To Audiences In October

Metro Arts

EMBARK ON AN UPLIFTING THEATRICAL JOURNEY OF ALL THE MAGICAL AND MUNDANE MOMENTS THAT MAKE LIFE WORTH LIVING AT METRO ARTS

The Queensland premiere of EVERY BRILLIANT THING promises a poignant yet buoyant interactive theatrical experience that invites Metro Arts audiences to consider the small joys and everyday moments of beauty that make life brilliant.

A new remount by Ipswich-based THAT Production Company of the acclaimed UK play, EVERY BRILLIANT THING traverses family, love, loss and hope from the perspective of a child who compiles a list of worthwhile moments to help their depressed mother.

It’s an intimate piece of storytelling that is equal parts whimsical and movingly nostalgic and reinforces our shared similarities, worries and joys.

THAT Production Company Artistic Director Timothy Wynn (Yielding, Kill Climate Deniers, Seawall) described the beloved play as heart-warming, honest and hopeful.

“Audiences can expect storytelling at its most essential – this play offers an authentic, engaging and entertaining experience while discussing some of the more challenging yet totally universal elements of living,” he said.

Lead actor Jason Klarwein (Once in Royal David’s City, Macbeth, A Streetcar Named Desire) highlighted the bond between the audience and the performer that makes every show different.

“Essentially, this is a play that really connects with the audience – there is no line here. It leaves audiences with a slight transformational quality and I think that is why it has been so popular around the world,” he said.

Metro Arts is delighted to present the Queensland premiere of EVERY BRILLIANT THING for an uplifting and touchingly funny interactive theatrical experience and a life-affirming celebration of courage in the face of anxiety.

About Metro Arts

Metro Arts is developing the future of Australian contemporary arts practice, now. Championing all contemporary artforms, the two core activities of the organisation are developing and co-presenting contemporary arts. Every day within Metro Arts’ theatre, galleries and studio spaces, there are artists taking risks, creating, developing, experimenting and presenting ambitious contemporary art.

In 2020, Metro Arts launched into a brave new chapter, relocating and opening new purpose-built premises within West Village, West End to support artists now and well into the future.
