THE PASSENGERS …
Oversexed, overpaid and over here – that’s how the American GIs were described when they landed on our shores in the 1940s during World War Two much to the delight of young Australian women.
Many of these women fell in love with the smooth soldiers with sharp uniforms, subsequently becoming ‘War Brides’.
In her new book THE PASSENGERS, author Eleanor Limprecht tells the story of a young War Bride and the challenges she faced when following her heart and her GI to the US.
While it is a fictional tale, Eleanor was inspired to write the story after meeting real war brides and hearing about the sacrifices they made for the love.
Eleanor talked about the story and signed copies of her book at The Avid Reader, West End in Brisbane on February 26th 2018.
SheSociety is a site for the women of Australia to share our stories, our experiences, shared learnings and opportunities to connect.
