August 28, 2023

It’s arguably one of the biggest challenges anyone renovating on a tight budget faces – achieving the look you’ve always wanted without blowing the budget.

For every style of renovating there is a way to get more bang for your buck and create a gorgeous space, it’s just about knowing the right tips and tricks of the trade.

Christie Wood, Beaumont Tiles Design Specialist said there are plenty of ways to get the space of your dreams by just choosing several key areas to renovate so that you can create a luxe sanctuary.

“When it comes to getting more bang for your buck, it is important to be selective with what you want to refresh,” said Christie Wood. “By choosing one feature at a time, you can slowly build any space into whatever look you’re after.

“By just selecting a splashback for your kitchen, design features on your porch or the finishes for your bathroom, you can give each of these spaces a much needed glamorous facelift, especially if you are willing to do a bit of DIY.”

To help get your reno started, Christie Wood shares her top three tips for getting a guaranteed glam look, no matter the budget.

1. Refresh that splashback

“Splashbacks are such an eye-catcher for the kitchen and are a sure way to add a bit of pizazz that refreshes the entire space,” Christie Wood said.

”Changing up your splashback is a sure-fire way to let your personality and style shine, as there are so many different tile sizes and shapes to choose from and it can be a DIY friendly weekend project.

“You can get a beautiful coastal vibe with a rustic white finger mosaic which, when coupled with matte cabinetry, really brings about a fab eye catching addition to your kitchen.

“Or if you are looking for a contemporary look in your laundry, try using a grey subway tile to transform your space into a monochrome masterpiece. One of the ways you can get this look is with the Beaumonts Max* United Grey Gloss range.

“Another great thing about subways is that you can lay them in so many creative ways like herringbone, crosshatch, vertical, horizontal, and with other lays, which can add so much sophistication to any splashback.”

Hot tip: Make sure you have 10 per cent extra tiles; this way, you can replace tiles down the track and don’t have to spend time and money to find a proper replacement which won’t match the tile variation.

2. Finish off with the beautiful finishes

Knowing where to start with your bathroom can be challenging, but changing the finishes can be enough to make a space feel more elevated.

“Finishes can be a quick way to add a bit of beauty to your bathroom,” Ms Wood said. “Adding a touch of shining gold or polished copper can give your bathroom a more modern look without changing your tiles or other bathroomware.

“If your bathroom is a bit dated, adding new fixtures can uplift its style, and you’ll be surprised how good it will make you feel to have an eye-catching bathroom for less. Try using HAUS25  Brushed Copper Lina tapware for a beautiful rustic addition to the bathroom.

“To be the most cost effective, keep all your plumbing points in the same spots so you won’t have to invest in changing the layout while keeping things familiar for the fam.”

Hot tip: Cleaning your grout can make a world of difference to your bathroom. Use a microfibre cloth and warm water to scrub in between your bathroom tiles to remove dirt and mild stains from the grout, and if you need more oomph try Lithofin Vitra Clean.

3. Beautify your porch

“If you’re looking for a quick win and to get the most bang for your buck, the porch can be an excellent place to go to,” Ms Wood said. “It’s a smaller space which can involve much less work to get a beaut look.

“To get a stylish Mediterranean look without the price tag go with the budget-friendly Screed Ivory tile range paired with terracotta pot plants or some second-hand wicker furniture can be all you need to make it a stunning space.

“The large format tiles can give the illusion of grandeur and the price will make you feel pretty grand as well or even consider adding pavers that are fit for purpose.

“We love using pedestals with pavers as it will allow for your floor to be raised by the supports even on the uneven ground allowing cables, drainage or any other unflattering features to disappear underneath

“With this porch facelift your place will look ready for barbecues and summer soirees which are just around the corner.”
