Beside the allure of rom-coms, the festival delves into romantic literature with three Conversation events. For $10 a session, why not meet the authors of these ‘sizzling’ sessions.
On Fridays, We Read Fantasy – 11am, Friday 23 February
We begin this romantic film festival on Friday 23 February. On Fridays, We Read Fantasy! In conversation with authors H.M Hodgson, Stacy McEwan, and Ally Blake. Three incredibly talented female roman-tasy writers in a 60 minute session at 11am.
H.M Hodgson, an award-winning and best-selling paranormal romance writer from Brisbane. She writes spicy romance about magic and intrigue. Magic that moves her readers to another world. She is best known for her Relics & Legends trilogy. Her urban-fantasy trilogy tells of a rogue witch Evangeline, looking for a missing relic with the help of sexy investigator Raph Smith.
Stacey McEwan is an Australian best-selling author, born and raised on the Gold Coast. Her debut fantasy romance trilogy, Glacian. The first book, Ledge, is a story of survival, sacrifice and revenge. McEwan writes spicy romantic fantasy, she is book influencer on multiple platforms, and began writing Ledge when her fanbase begged her to share her ideas in a book.
Ally Blake is an Australian romance author. She adores writing love stories and delighting her readers with a ‘sprinkle of effervescence’ that she adds to her books. Her novels are fairy tales for grown-ups, having sold over a million copies of her Harlequin Mills and Boon novels, she is truly living the dream. Her best-selling trilogy, The Cinderella Projects, tells the story of three separate women all looking to escape their lives and run into the loves of their lives.
Prose Progression: In Conversation with Emerging and Established Writers.
– 11am, Saturday 24 February
On Saturday 24 February at 11am, attendees can expect 60 minutes of informative and entertaining conversations from emerging writers Michelle Beesley and Jordan Clayden-Lewis, rubbing shoulders with talented and established writer Anna Campbell. The event will also be expertly moderated by CEO and Festival Director of Gold Coast’s Storyfest, Andrea Lewis.
Michelle Beesley is a Brisbane author, regular columnist at yours truly SheSociety, and has a podcast Buzzing about Books. Michelle writes romantic fiction and children’s stories. Her short story Escape to D’Amour has been published as part of the Destination Romance Anthology.
Jordan Clayden-Lewis works in digital publishing and is an Australian author of queer books, most recently his road trip romance novel, When Things Happen Together. Jordan has performed at the Australian storytelling event Queerstories, as well as the National Young Writers Festival.
Anna Campbell has written 10 multi award winning historical romance novels. As an independently published author she released 18 best selling novellas. She was also nominated for the RITA Award for Best Historical Romance: Long in 2019.
All three panelists will also be signing books after the In Conversation event at the Blussh inspired pop up markets on the boulevard in South City Square (downstairs from Angelika). Shelf Lovers will be able to sell you the books as well at their pop up store.
All Loved Up. –11am, Sunday 25 February
On our final day at Blussh, Sunday 25 February at 11am, attendees can expect a deep conversation with Amy Andrews. An author with a passion for writing, the romance genre, and connecting with her beloved audience. Amy will be joined by moderator Olympia Kwitowski, a radio breakfast host. Both their chemistry and rapport will enchant and enthrall.
Amy talks about her career, inspiration, her favorite characters, and her award nominated books as well as what’s next for this fierce and fabulous romance author. Amy will be signing books after the In Conversation in Angelikas foyer. Books for signing include: Numbered and Breaking all the Rules. Both can be bought at the Shelf Lovers pop-up store.
