Imaginator is where technology and imagination collide and the result is a super- fun experience that is highly engaging and entertaining – for the best child friendly must dos, the best insta – moments and even the best meditation spots you need look no further.

It’s based in a purpose-built playground underneath the Goodwill Bridge, next to the Queensland Maritime Museum at the top end of South Bank. Adventurers will only have until January 31 to experience it before it closes. She Society were lucky enough to catch an early sneak peek and we took two young friends along to hear their opinions on this amazing space.

We were all excited to be immersed in the 10-jaw dropping rooms – eight of which are brand new to Brisbane. These rooms have brought together the creative talents of architects, authors, audio – visual artists, future thinkers, renderers and sound designers. Rooms are slowly revealed to you as you walk through, and you can sit and ponder or wander at your leisure.

Favourites were the mirror room, rope waterfall, light shows and play area with interactive building blocks, slides, balance beam and stuntman jump plus plenty of audio surprises. I heard one little boy say he never wanted to leave. Sit and chill in the cosy beanbags or meditate by the soothing screens.

There are plenty of places to just sit and take it all in. It’s great for teens to create cool instagram content. Babies are mesmerised by the mirrors and lights.

You’ll feel like you are in outer space in the galaxy lounge where you can relax in giant beanbags under the interactive galaxy parachutes. Come and chat with Adam the AI bot who’s just out of this world. He’ll have the answers to all your questions. In the raindrop room engage with a real-life rain filter or whisper your secrets to the wishing well.

Slip off your shoes and explore this multi -sensory and interactive play space at your leisure. The experience can take anywhere from a 15 – minute walkthrough to an hour – long immersion. Time passed so quickly, and our group were there for 45 minutes. Imaginator is a celebration of imagination, technology and immersive play and it’s something the whole family can do together, or…it’s the coolest date experience around. In our group were babies, children, teens, toddlers, parents and grandparents. All enjoyed different facets of the experience. I loved hearing the children’s laughter as they discovered something new.

Imaginator is only here in Brisbane until January 31 and is suitable for all ages. It’s open Sunday to Thursday 10 am – 6pm; Friday and Saturday 10 am to 7pm. It will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Tickets can be bought through Ticketmaster or at the on-site box office. For an immersive experience, sharing all the wonders of modern technology, it’s a great way to keep the family entertained these school holidays.
