Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre; what a fabulous movie for Roadshow Films to begin the new year. I was looking forward to this you beaut movie as it was Directed by one of my favourites, English director, producer and screen writer Guy Ritchie.
His atypical movies guarantee unusual twists and he kept his promise. Operation Fortune held the audience with its robust story line full of heavy action, witty humour and eccentric characters for the perfect enhancement.
The other attraction that caught my attention on the media release invitation was the lead actor, Jason Statham. He is my forever favourite hitman. I love his executioner type roles and I am pleased to say he didn’t disappoint. This time though, he was a boss man super spy as well as my hitman, playing Orson Fortune. He led a super talented team of professional operatives who could indeed hold their own.
Talented TV’s White Lotus star, Aubrey Plaza was fantastic playing the role of Sarah, one of the top operative spies. And it was such fun watching Hugh Grant playing Greg Simmonds. Even though he remained charming and charismatic his character was amusingly different.
With lots of killer karate moves and ooh’s and aah’s from the audience we also managed to laugh at the humorous quips. Clever writers.
This film has a pleasurable combination of an unorthodox plot, global espionage, and racy humour to entertain you to the end. I thoroughly enjoyed Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre and its picturesque filming locations in Antalya a province of Turkey and Qatar.
The Story
Orson Fortune, a super spy boss, and his top operatives decide to fool the enemy by recruiting a Hollywood superstar, Danny Francesco, played by Josh Hartnett.
This is where the fun begins when Danny puts his acting skills into play. He, albeit reluctantly, helps to stop billionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant) from selling deadly new technological weapons.
They have the potential to cause utter world chaos and disruption, the consequences catastrophic. But as the title of Operation Fortune: The Ruse De Guerre suggests, all is not as it seems when other confounding groups join the quest, hence the meaning being at play.
