A pared back set greeted guests for the Ginger & Smart Spring 21 Resort 22 show. The lighting in this show was the star as Ginger & Smart took us on a journey of colour. The label promised plenty of glamour and we were greeted to the sight of a snapper coming out first to take pictures of us from a revolving set , before the models descended onto the catwalk.
What came next were some picture perfect pastels, ruffles, silk and flowing dresses in shades of apricot, sherbet, lemon and mint green. There were the feminine and romantic styles Ginger & Smart are known for and covetable prints perfect for a stunning Spring day.
First out was a very pretty structured dress in apricot. I loved the statement sleeves with ties. The neckline was a deep ‘ V ‘ which was prominent in much of the collection. It was paired with long statement earrings and flat tan sandals. Next was a print maxi in shades of yellow , apricot and rust. Balloon sleeves and a big oversized bow in the back of the hair was a feature.
There were incredibly wearable cool jumpsuits and an eye catching dress in an orangey red with a high neck ruffled collar. Such a statement piece! Tiered skirts and boob tube style tops were a big part of the collection as were unstructured jackets with easy to wear pants. Next came some pretty dresses in all shades of green, once again sporting the deep necklines.
Bows and quilted bags were accessories, as were glass earrings. Relaxed flat sandals completed many of the looks. I spoke to fashion illustrator, Kai, who noted that the make up looks were vibrant on the eyes whilst letting the skin’s natural glow shine through.
I noticed Julie Bishop in the front row across from me and she seemed particularly taken with the feminine floral maxis. The prints were so pretty, merging graphic and floral print, a Ginger & Smart signature, in colours that mirrored a Spring garden.
Ginger & Smart design for the spirited women whose distinctive style is an expression of their individuality. Theirs is a luxury design aesthetic which seeks to combine both the polished and playful aspects of a woman. The showstopper two – piece white gown at the end of the show was a great example of playful yet polished and this piece wowed the crowd.
Ginger & Smart gave us a collection which reflected the use of cool , breathable fabrics and the glamorous yet comfortable factor expected for those of us with an Australian lifestyle in 2021 / 22. I can see many women coveting these beautiful pieces and making a statement as they turn heads wearing the latest Ginger & Smart piece. Truly a stunning show!
