Ravishing Fashionistas Fashion Show 2022

June 14, 2022

One of the most inclusive fashion shows that I have seen In recent years was the Ravishing Fashionistas Fashion Show. Now, Ravishing Fashionistas has returned in 2022 after an amazing sell-out fashion event last year, to help women embrace themselves by breaking stereotypes in the fashion industry. Casting calls were held in March. The first was in Brisbane. The RF team set up the venue with beautiful spring themed styling, mirroring the feel for the BRISBANE RAVISHING FASHIONISTAS FASHION SHOW 2022. It will  be held on 6th August, at the heritage listed building Old Government House, Brisbane.

Models walked the red carpet to the media wall, before entering the hall to strut their stuff for the judges, in hopes of becoming part of the RF family. A wonderfully diverse variety of beautiful models ranging from 16-60 attended, with over 100 applications processed. The day had such a positive vibe with women of all shapes, sizes, ages and ethnicities all supporting each other, it was so inspiring to see so many diverse women celebrating their differences together, which is what the RF concept is all about.

After such a successful casting call in Brisbane, the team at Ravishing Fashionistas took themselves down to Runaway Bay on the Gold Coast. They were in search of more outstanding models for the BRISBANE RAVISHING FASHIONISTAS FASHION SHOW 2022 to be held on the 6th August at Old Government House in Brisbane City. The Gold Coast casting call went off without a hitch with models of all shapes, sizes, ages and ethnicities attending, officially marking the end of the model hunt for the show.

Founder and concept creator Upma Kite said she was overjoyed at the turn out, with over 60 Gold Coast models applying to walk for the judges with the hopes of joining the RF family. It was fantastic to see such a wonderfully diverse range of models attend the casting call who were all such a delight to work with. The Brisbane casting call saw over 130 hopeful models apply, making this year an absolute record turn-out for Ravishing Fashionistas casting calls.

After two exciting casting calls in Brisbane and at the Gold Coast, the RF Team held their prestigious Launch Party on Sunday, the 9th of April at Customs House. This gave just a taste of what to expect at the fashion event in August. The guests at the Launch Party enjoyed canapes and cocktails in the River Room and Terrace of Customs House, taking in the spectacular views of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge, while they mingled and danced the night away.

The evening was hosted by influencer and love coach Belinda Rygier, who has become an integral member of the Ravishing Fashionistas family this year, joining both casting calls. The Ravishing Fashionistas team are grateful for her amazing energy and insight. Guests were treated to a mini runway featuring designs from Nathalie Le Riche art, Kablooie Store, Anannasa and Moreno Marcos presented by a selection of  the recently cast models.

Since then, models have undergone two rehearsals where model coaches Mercy Woods and Andrea Smith provided their expertise in runway walking and posing. The RF team are so proud of the progress of the models already and with only three more rehearsals to go, are confident that they can prove that any woman can be a model in her own right regardless of age, shape, size or ethnicity.

Ravishing Fashionistas concept creator, Upma Kite, has also directed two promotional photoshoots for designers and models to show off their incredible talent and get excited about the upcoming fashion show on August 6th.

Ravishing Fashionistas were excited to announce the launch of their first Modelling Workshop, open to anyone who would like the opportunity to workshop modelling skills and confidence – regardless of their level of experience in the industry. The modelling workshop is a one-day workshop that will give models a brief overview of the industry, casting expectations & runway skills, as well as personal development skills. The course will run for nine hours and provide models with quality, professional training within a positive and friendly environment, giving models the opportunity to grow their confidence as well as essential industry skills and knowledge. RF hopes to enhance model’s skills and prepare them for castings and runway modelling.

The RF team continue to look forward to RF4 and the rest of the year, where they will be able to showcase new designers, discover new talented women, and advocate for positive body image in the fashion industry.
