SheSociety had the pleasure of attending the launch on Thursday in Brisbane with host, Shaun Micallef and Generation Y team leader, Andy Lee in attendance. In conversation with Shaun & Andy at the event they are both interested to see what the audience reaction will be to this season of the show. Both having been producers on shows before they are usually aware of what they will be participating in while filming, however for Talkin’ ‘bout your Generation everyday they filmed was a surprise! Andy said ‘I’m used to knowing everything and setting up the pranks myself, usually for Hamish, but for this show there was a surprise everday’. From Andy licking gravy off feet to Robyn licking letters on a perspex wall the games they play will have a surprise factor for everyone that is watching.
This season they have ditched the Baby Boomers and given Generation X a go to which Shaun mentioned they fail the Generation miserably! But then again, he said all of the leaders failed their generations! ‘Adding in Generation Z has given a great insight into our future, which is worrying’ Shaun laughed. Andy was quick to jump in stating that Laurence, team leader for Generation Z, is so intelligent he upstages everyone playing the game and Andy is forever giving Laurence a hard time purely because of his self proclaimed jealousy! ‘He is a geek’ Andy said in a panel discussion, ‘and I say that because I am jealous!’.
Usually with Shaun and Andy when working in television they find they are both told to tone it down…in terms of – you are too over the top, this will be too full on for the audience! For this show the network didn’t batt an eyelid at the shenanigans happening during filming, in fact it was encouraged.
Always a favourite of the SheSociety team as it provides light, HILARIOUS relief after a day of work and brain strain! Get your family involved with Talkin’ ‘bout your Generation! Answer the questions and battle it out with your own generations! Note to self though – don’t try their messy food fighting games at home kids! – no generation wants to clean that up!
Talkin’ ‘bout your Generation starts Monday night 21st of May at 7:30pm on Channel 9.
