The Fox Hotel Launches New Menu

December 5, 2017

She Brisbane were excited to be invited by the good folks from The Fox Hotel to sample their brand new menu. This eclectic menu is now available for lunch and dinner throughout the venue but its also a great place to while away some time at the Trocadero Long Bar. Heading upstairs first we also sampled some of the tasty cocktails on offer at Dandy’s Rooftop Bar. She Brisbane can recommend the Lychee Mojitos for a refreshing tipple on a hot Brisbane day. Dandy’s is a retro themed, colourful bar with some of the best views in Brisbane. If it’s been a while since you’ve visited why not venture out to South Brisbane and try some of The Fox Hotel’s modern pub food, yummy cocktails or the cheeky desserts in its quirky, eclectic setting.

About The Fox Hotel

The Fox Hotel has been a feature of South Brisbane from its beginnings as The Terminus in 1880 and despite more recent renovations it still retains its heritage character with wrought iron verandahs and exposed brickwork. The latest funky fit out sees quirky wallpaper in some of the function rooms (think bugs or parrots amidst the greenery) plus the addition of the newly named Trocadero Long Bar named after the dancehall which used to sit next door. Dandy’s Rooftop Bar boasts some colourful distressed timber tables, funky lights around the bar and a range of cocktails and beers to sip as you take in the city skyline.

The New Menu

I spoke to manager Scott Campbell who said, “ Chef Michael Stillman and the team have been hard at work creating new menu items to cater for every taste. The burger and hot dogs menu is extensive with a range of double down burgers for heartier appetites. There are also pizzas that are just the right size, not too big or small and some cheeky desserts like the hot pocket pie which has the folded dough filled with delicious fruit, topped with vanilla ice cream. They also have doughnut fries which come served like a plate of chips with a condensed milk sauce. We’ve tried to cater for all different tastes at very reasonable prices and our double down burgers, in particular, are doing really well.”

She Brisbane and other lucky guests were treated to a delicious long lunch at a beautifully decorated long table with great live music. Everyone relished the chance to sample the menu.

Entrée included tasty wings and potato gems, before we all chose from the Burger and Dogs Menu. We chose The Chicken Foxtrot Burger which was filled with buttermilk chicken, cheese, lettuce, onion, pickles, tomatoes, slaw and to give it a kick, chipotle sauce. It received a big thumbs up! There is even a vegetarian option, the Mushroom Swing which included a huge pan fried mushroom with haloumi, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño and mayo. The verdict was delicious and both burgers were accompanied by some excellent fries.

Other choices on the burger menu were the cheeky Parma United which has double fried chicken with salad and a Napoli sauce or the Deuce Royale with two beef patties, bacon, loads of salad and a special sauce. Or why not pretend you’re at the baseball by trying the Challenger Ballpark Hotdog.

We all agreed the apple hot pockets with ice cream and doughnut fries were worth saving room for.

The doughnut fries in particular are great for sharing.

Summer is here so why not head out to The Fox Hotel for a refreshing drink at Dandy’s Rooftop Bar or do your own sampling of the new menu. You won’t be disappointed and you won’t be breaking the budget. She Brisbane are already planning their next few visits. The Fox Hotel can be found on Melbourne Street, South Brisbane, just across the road from QPAC.
