Last week Screen Queensland opened its new $12.6 million studio complex in Cairns with great fanfare!
This state-of-the-art facility boasts an expansive 11,517 square feet sound stage alongside production offices, editing suites, a sound recording studio, ample construction space, event venues, and costume facilities. Already, a host of esteemed screen enterprises have secured tenancies within the premises. Among them are Lone Star Productions, a prominent production company; Platinum Talent Management, a leading casting agency; Wallfly, specialists in audiovisual technology; and Lemac Film & Digital, providers of comprehensive business, camera, and equipment solutions.
The grand opening witnessed the presence of notable figures such as Aaron Fa’Aoso, the managing director of Lone Star Productions and Screen Queensland Board member; Jacqui Feeney, the CEO of Screen Queensland; Hon. Leeanne Enoch, the Queensland Arts Minister; and Hon. Curtis Pitt, FNQ Screen Champion and Member for Mulgrave.
An important moment for Cairns and the Queensland film industry as we see the increase in the ability of people to be able to stay in their own back yard to work in the industry they want be in! An exciting time to be in the film and production industry in Queensland!
