  • Heaps of new features
  • Experience cult classics with ‘Comic-fest’ section

Get ready Brisbane bookworms, Lifeline’s Brisbane Bookfest is returning across 4 massive days only, with plenty of books to explore as well as a lot of new features, including the addition of our very own ‘Comic-fest’.

It’s time to save the date in your calendar for the much-loved event, taking place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from Saturday, 17 June to Tuesday, 20 June 2023.

More than 1 million books are currently being sorted and categorised at the Brisbane warehouse in preparation for the thousands of book lovers who will flock to the massive event next month.

Jamie Mackay, Lifeline Retail’s General Manager, said Lifeline’s incredible team are busily getting ready for a mammoth four days of Bookfest.

“We are less than six weeks out from what will be a bumper Bookfest this June so it’s all systems go for the team at the moment,” he said.

This Bookfest will also have a lot of new exciting features.

“There will be a dedicated Comic-fest section where there will be over 10,000 comics, manga, graphic novels, memorabilia and many other collectable items for enthusiasts to explore, and we encourage customers to get into the spirit and dress up as their favourite,” Mr Mackay said.

“Other new instalments include twice as many registers and 590 new trolleys which will improve the Bookfest experience.

“And lookout for our special guests appearing throughout the event— you might run into Ian Healy or Alastair Lynch!”

Bookfest is Lifeline Queensland’s biggest fundraising event of the year with profits made going to directly support the critical work of the 24/7 crisis support line.

While the free-to-enter event is usually held across 10 days, this June, the event will run across four days, meaning book lovers will only have one weekend to stock up on books.

“While this Bookfest is condensed to four days due to availability at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, it will be just as big as all our other events with a huge number of books up for grabs as well as a lot of new features for everyone to discover and enjoy,” Mr Mackay said.

“We don’t want anyone to miss out on what is one of the biggest book events in the Southern Hemisphere.

“Plan your visit to Bookfest with friends and family in advance so you have the best opportunity to browse the impressive collection.”

Books start as low as $2.50, with a plethora of great reads across all genres, including cooking, health and fitness, gardening, history, biography, children’s books and much more.
