What’s On in South East Queensland this weekend, and the month of June.

Brisbane is a city that is often buzzing with life, and the next couple of weeks is no different! Arts and Culture

  • Brisbane Comedy Festival

It’s here, and it’s promising some side-splitting laughter, the highly anticipated Brisbane Comedy Festival has taken centre stage! Taking place at the Brisbane Powerhouse, The Tivoli and The Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane Comedy Festival, the Brisbane Comedy Festival will get you giggling with its final weekend line-up (27th and 28th of May 2023), including The Umbilical Brothers, Wil Anderson, Andy Saunders, and more.   • Moulin Rouge! The Musical

Do you enjoy spectacular dancing? fabulous costumes? or perhaps eye-catching stage sets? Moulin Rouge! The Musical is the perfect way to spend your night then. With musical hits from Adele, Beyonce, Rhianna and Sia, just to name a few, you’ll be wishing you up on the stage dancing and singing with them. The show tells the story of truth, beauty, freedom, and most importantly- love. Moulin Rouge!   • Brisbane Art Design

Returning for another year of creativity and innovation is the Brisbane Art Design (BAD), bringing an immersive art experience right to Brisbane’s doorstep. Running from the 10th of May to the 28th of May 2023 BAD is a display of talent unlike any other. Take part in an experience that highlights local inspirations and art and sparks your imagination this weekend on it’s closing weekend, before it’s too late! BAD has a variety of informative sessions and workshops to participate in to fuel your artistry, including watercolour and pottery workshops, and ‘tea and tours’.   • The Art of Banksy: “Without Limits” Exhibition

Step into the enigmatic world of one of the most elusive street artist’s, Banksy, with Brisbane’s The Art of Banksy: “Without Limits” Exhibition. With 150 of the artist’s works on display, from original prints, to sculptures, installations, photos and more, this event is an immersive experience that unravels the narratives behind this thought-provoking artist. The event is running in Queens Plaza, Queen Street, until the 16th of June, head to the Art of Banksy website to book your tickets today.

  • Looking Out, Looking In: Exploring the Self Portrait Exhibition

In a world full of selfies and social media, this exhibition explores the various approaches human kind takes when envisaging oneself today. Bring a friend or family member to stroll through the gallery with and inspect the various approaches artists such as Cindy Sherman, Vincent Namatjira and Nora Heysen took when painting themselves; from modest to flamboyant, this exhibition covers all. The exhibition runs from the 11th of March to the 6th of August 2023 at the Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery 4. Discover more here.

  • The Hills Carnivale Festival

This Saturday the 27th of May Hills Carnivale presents their annual Hills Carnivale at George Willmore Park to bring to a close its four weeks of spectacular events. The Carnival features free entry, market alleys, food stalls, rides, kids zones and live music and entertainment between both a main stage and a kid stage. Gather the family together and bring along a picnic rug to grab some dinner and watch the fabulous fireworks! Calling all of Brisbane’s bookworms, this one’s for you! Sports and Activity

  • State of Origin 2023

It’s one of Australia’s biggest showdowns of the year, particularly for Queenslanders and New South Welshmen, the State of Origin returns for its 2023 round in Brisbane. Game 2 will be played at Suncorp Stadium on the 21st of June 2023, showing the match between Queensland and New South Wales; will QLD dominate again or will NSW be the underdogs that take out the win?   • Medibank Feel Good Program Brisbane

Recharge your batteries at end of the work day or work week with Medibank’s Feel Good Program! Medibank is offering a variety of free outdoor health and well-being classes from the 1st of March through to the 31st of May, with the month of May’s focus being on ‘Balance’. The classes are perfect for beginners all the way through the experts, and are taking place at South Bank Parklands.
