Eighty amazing women at the inaugural She High Tea raised $700 to buy six mastectomy bras at $105 a bra, and during the week our columnist Ruth Greening, presented the cheque to Mater Chicks in Pink’s Claire Hughes (pictured above).
We were absolutely blown away with the generosity of all the women in the room. Our goal was to buy two, possibly three bras, but the ladies of the She High Tea raised $700 – that’s six mastectomy bras plus a little more towards the seventh. Thank you to everyone who pulled out a $5, $10, $20 and $50 note and said ‘no change needed’. It brought tears to our eyes. Special thanks to Jane, Michaela and Jennifer for helping to sell the raffle tickets.
Elixir Coffee provided a great prize of a barista course for two as the raffle prize. Drawn by our Bite Me columnist, Emma Lee (pictured right), the winner was Loretta Ryan (hit her up for a good coffee when she finishes the course).
The inaugural She High Tea—held at Nates Stones Corner—sold out at 80 guests and boasted a room full of amazing women!
M.C. and journalist Alexandria Bernard (columnist, Smart Alex) kicked off the day with some interesting facts about Victorian women and their fans, which most of us wrote down and may use to our advantage!
The panel
Our panel (pictured with M.C. Alexandria Bernard, left to right) Myjanne Jensen (The Mother Load columnist), Ruth Greening (Nanny Babe columnist), our effervescent half of The Social Report, Michaela Bourke and Yvonne Shepherd (Women’s Fitness Adventures Founder and off to do the Kokoda Trail the very next day), covered the big topics and drew some brilliant comments from the ladies in the audience!
The best dressed awards
The other half of The Social Report, Jennifer Vines (pictured left) judged the best dressed, awarding the much-coveted $200 Brazilian Beauty voucher and ASI Product Pack, and three great new release books as follows:
- 1st prize best dressed: Noela Watkins (pictured left). Noela blew the judge (Jennifer) away with her stylish outfit.
Jennifer says: ” Noela Watkins really stood out with a great mix of designer labels – wearing Sass and Bide and Camilla, combined with Mimco handbag and gorgeous crystal shoes.
“She had great poise and confidence ans definitely had the ‘Wow’ factor. She well deserved to win The Most Glamorous Award of the Day.”
Best accessories:
- Cathryn Mora
- Michelle Beesley
- Tania Schott
